Remodel Your Patio Without Breaking the Bank
A patio is a great addition to any home, but Mother Nature is not always kind to the space and you might find that you’re in need of a renovation.
It can be tough to justify spending a lot of money on patio updates, especially if you live in a place where you can only really use it for part of the year. Here are some ideas for renovating your patio without busting your budget:
A fresh coat of paint
Sometimes this is all you need to transform old, weathered-looking boards into something brand new. Opt for a stain or paint that’s different than what you used previously to give the appearance of something new.
If you are feeling extra creative, use stencils to add designs to your base color. The new paint will also serve as a blueprint on which you can plan the rest of your patio renovation.
Use recycled materials
You might be surprised at how many materials you can gather for your patio without paying a cent. From brick to stone and shale, there’s often lots of material lying around if you know where to find it.
Check your local recycling center, or even ask contractors to see if they have extra materials. You’ll probably be doing them a favor by taking things off their hands, and you’ll be saving those valuable materials from going into a landfill.
Build it yourself
Before you head out to buy new patio furniture, consider whether it’s something you can make yourself. You might be surprised at how easy it is to make a table, a fire pit, or another piece of furniture for your patio.
Not only will a DIY approach save you money, but you’ll also get the satisfaction that comes from making something by hand. It will also make for a great story to tell friends and family when you are sitting around enjoying the fruits of your labor on your newly-renovated patio!
